About this Texas estimate

Texas does not levy a broad wage income tax, so the calculator confirms a zero state income-tax estimate. Other payroll deductions can still apply.

Gross pay vs. net pay

Gross pay is earnings before taxes and deductions. Net pay is the amount left after estimated taxes and the deductions you entered. The result card also shows annual, monthly, biweekly and weekly views.

Federal assumptions for tax year 2026

The calculator uses 2026 federal brackets and standard deductions for your filing status. Employee Social Security is 6.2% up to the annual wage base, and Medicare is 1.45% of covered wages, with additional Medicare where applicable. Tax credits and local payroll rules are not included.

Important: Tax calculations are estimates and may not reflect your exact tax liability or payroll withholding. See tax data & sources for the federal values included in this release.

Texas paycheck FAQs

How is a Texas paycheck calculated?

Gross pay is reduced by entered pre-tax deductions. The calculator estimates federal income tax using 2026 federal brackets and standard deductions, then applies employee Social Security and Medicare tax. State coverage is stated in the result.

Does Texas have state income tax?

Texas does not currently levy a broad individual income tax on wage income. This does not mean that all state or local payroll deductions are zero.

How accurate is the estimate?

It is a planning estimate, not tax, legal, accounting or financial advice. Credits, dependents, local taxes, supplemental wages and employer payroll settings can change the actual amount withheld.
